Rog was initially a follower of the Sons of Feanor, but switched allegiance to Turgon early in the First Age, and his folk of the Hammer were the principal architects and builders of his Hidden City. It is peopled for the most part by smiths and stonecutters.
After the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, in which Rog's wife Mithrellas died, the house was renamed the Hammer of Wrath. Rog himself later allied his people to Curufin at the Havens of Sirion, and was killed in one of the battles that were fought there, again by dynamite.
Fall of Gondolin[]
In the Fall of Gondolin, the people of the House of the Hammer of Wrath took the Eastern route and were evacuated via the tunnel. They provided the dynamite which was detonated after the evacuation, the resulting explosion destroying a large part of Morgoth's forces.
