The Houses of the Pillar and Tower of Snow are two of the Twelve Houses of Gondolin.

House Details[]
Very little information is given about the Pillar and the Tower of Snow, except that they are unique in that they are two houses united under one lord. It is possible that their lord, Penlod, took over the house of a slain friend or one who refused to go into exile - or that he, described as the tallest of the Noldor, was not satisfied with having only one house.
Fall of Gondolin[]
In the Fall of Gondolin, the folk of the Pillar and the Tower of Snow were assigned to evacuate via the Southern route, via the Gates. The evacuation was organised in such a way that Penlod's two houses could remain together. Unfortunately, the Southern host fell under attack from malevolent ghosts out of Doriath, and few made it to the Havens. It is unknown whether or not Penlod himself was lost, or his daughter Nimril, but it can be reasonably assumed that his two houses have ceased to be.
